Rachael~ What an awesome writer you are! I really enjoyed the couple of articles that I have read in the Mankato Magazine. Especially loved the sport shoe article because my daughter is also a “sport shoe horse”. Anyway, my pet peeve about the outdoors is… I am an all year walker. When I am trying to cross the street at an intersection, often times cars are in the crosswalk. Common sense should tell them that is where people will cross to get to the other side of the street and when their car is there, we have to walk around the front or back. They must not read their drivers’ manual very thoroughly, because pedestrians have the right no matter what. In Fort Collins, CO, where my daughter worked for a year, I pulled into a crosswalk, and she would remind me how important it is to not pull into the crosswalk, so I would back up. Not only could I be ticketed but there are people waiting to cross the street.
